Kakamega county Boss flags off vehicles to enhance KACWASCO operations

Kakamega County Water and Sanitation Company limited { KACWASCO} is company that offers services on water and sewerage, quality water and sanitation services to the people, treatment works, clean and enough water to the people of Kakamega.

According to Governor Fernandes Baraza, provision of safe and clean drinking water is a priority to the people of Kakamega county.

Governor Baraza flagged off 3 double cabin vehicles on 3rd February 2023 in a bid to boost the Company’s operations effectively and efficiently in order to deliver the required services to the people of Kakamega county.

“My administration will work with the company on areas that will require improvement to enhance the quality services disputing with KACWASCO to ensure residents of Kakamega county access clean and sufficient water at their respective homestead regardless of their proximity to the water services,” he said

With the effort of implementing his manifesto of   ‘Amatsi khumuliango’ a phrase which means “water at doorstep, the Governor added that his administration will increase budget allocation to the Department of Water, Environment, Natural Resources and Climate Change to ensure there is an efficient supply of water across Kakamega county.

Dr. Mariam Barasa, CECM for Water, Environment, Natural Resources and Climate Change said that her department will involve all stakeholders in an attempt to find a solution to the challenges facing KACWASCO.

Ag board chairperson Ms. Mary Kundu revealed that KACWASCO needs to embrace technology to enhance services.

Formerly, The Governor held a Bi Monthly meeting with Water Services Providers Association { WASPA} at Golf Hotel in Kakamega town congregating top management of Water Service Provider’s (WSP’s)  Countrywide and other stakeholders.

As the Chairperson of the Finance  and Economic Affairs Committee at the Council of Governors, the Kakamega County Boss assured that the council will look for ways to ensure the that the council of Governors look for ways to reduce the tax imposed my on WPS by the National Government.
