Bungoma County Referral Hospital is set to receive a significant boost in vaccine management and immunization services through the donation of a modern cold room and a vaccine distribution truck by Rotary Club of Magharibi in partnership with Rotary Club of Tully, USA.
The commitment was reaffirmed during a consultative meeting involving hospital management, county health officials, and representatives from the Rotary team.

The delegation was led by Roy Wafula, who outlined the project’s specifications, operational requirements, and its anticipated impact on strengthening Bungoma County’s vaccine supply chain.
Speaking during the meeting, Medical Superintendent Dr. Simon Kisaka commended the Rotary Clubs for their support, noting that the cold room will enhance safe vaccine storage and improve immunization service delivery across the county.
Dr. Kisaka also appealed for future support towards the establishment of an Integrated Mother and Baby Centre and a dedicated Mental Health Centre to address emerging healthcare needs and improve patient experience.
County Executive Committee Member for Health and Sanitation, Mr. Chrispinus Barasa, welcomed the partnership and encouraged the hospital management to develop proposals for additional support, particularly for mental health services and expansion of the Pediatric Unit.

The cold room is valued at approximately KSh 5.5 million, while the distribution truck is estimated at KSh 4.92 million, bringing the total project value to about USD 110,000.
The partnership reflects the shared commitment of Bungoma County Referral Hospital, the County Government of Bungoma, and the Rotary Clubs to strengthening healthcare systems, improving immunization services, and enhancing access to quality healthcare for residents across Bungoma County.
