Let Nzoia Sugar Land Be Managed By County Gov’t -Says Guv Lusaka

Governor Kenneth Lusaka has confirmed that the County Government is pushing for custody of the 14,000-acre Nzoia Sugar nucleus land in the ongoing leasing program to ensure proper management.

Speaking in Kabula, Bumula Constituency, during the burial of Hon. Mwalimu Frederick Wanyonyi, Lusaka emphasized the importance of local control in reviving the struggling sugar mill.

“Nzoia Sugar’s nucleus land must remain under the County Government to ensure its optimal use for the benefit of our farmers and workers,” said Lusaka. “We must put aside politics and work together to make this mill functional again.”

He called for unity among leaders to save the miller, which remains the region’s largest employer and a key economic driver.

In addition, Lusaka announced that Kabula Health Centre will receive KSh14.5 million for renovation and new medical equipment, through a joint initiative between Bungoma County and the Japanese Government.

The Governor, who also attended burials in Sichei (Kabuchai) and Namirembe (Kanduyi), reiterated his administration’s commitment to delivering impactful, legacy-driven projects across all sub-counties.
