Boost For Two informal settlements Schemes In Bungoma County as KISIP2 Upgrading Set To Start

The Second Kenya Informal Settlement Improvement Project (KISIP2) National office representative visited Bungoma County on project ARAP/PAPs verification tour.

The team led by Blanton Gitau and Getrude mbogo toured the region on a Resettlement Action Plan (RAP) in the two informal settlements in the County to assess it’s readiness for the project implementation.

Bungoma County Project Coordinating Team (CPCT) led by Lands,Physical Planning and Urban Development Director Plan. Wellington Sindani hosted the National team members.

During the verification exercise, two cases were observed in Landi Matope in Chwele while four cases of the same were observed in Mjini informal settlement.

Mjini informal settlement scheme is set for road upgrading, water provision and provision of high flood mast to reduce insecurity.

Landi Matope is also marked for road upgrading and provision of street lights.

KISIP2 projects are co-financed by the World Bank, the Agency Franchise de Development (AFD) and the County government of Bungoma in collaboration with the State Department of Housing and Urban Development to a tune of Sh410 Million

Ksh30 million has been allocated for high flood lights under small works while Sh380 million will go towards upgrading the drainage, road network, storm water drainage, streets lights in the targeted informal settlement schemes.

Others present were,Hon.James Mukhongo MCA Kabuchai, Project Social and Environment Safeguard Officer Director Christine Simiyu, Kanduyi Sub County acting administrator Festus Juma and Kabuchai Jane Kusienya, Musikoma MCA representative Javan among others.
