40 Teams From Busia County To Battle For Global Appeal Football Tournament

Fourty teams, including 32 for men and eight for women, will participate in the Global Appeal Football Tournament with kick- off set for May 21st, 2023 in venues within Busia town. The names of the teams will be unveiled in due course.

The founder and chairman Global Appeal Sports, Yusuf Noah said the soccer bonanza will be officially launched in Nairobi on May 19th, 2023 before being rolled out to counties with Busia becoming the first county to kick-start the event two days later.

Mr Noah said the winners in the two categories will proceed for the regionals with winners from four counties of Busia, Kakamega, Vihiga and Bungoma qualifying for national finals in Nairobi for the inter-regional games.

Noah said it will be a good opportunity to tap talents with head of recruitment from Crystal Palace Football Academy, Sports Director University of Baltimore who will focus on ladies talents and scouts from Africog and Sabia to camp in Busia during the 3-4 days tournament whose host is the Busia Women Reprentative, Hon Catherine Omanyo.

The chairman said the objective of the Global Appeal Football Tournament is to help tap talents that abounds in the country to enable them play in big time soccer internationally.

He urged fans in Busia County to turn up in large numbers to make the inaugural tournament a success. The chairman who made an inspection tour of Busia Polytechnic and Busia County Stadium to host the tournament which he praised for its large size, urging the County Government to promote the stadium to international standards by revamping it.

Noah thanked the host and coordinator Hon Omanyo for paying for registration fee of all the 40 teams that have entered for the soccer bonanza, revealing the launch of a Football Academy in Karen Village in Nairobi on. 3rd June, 2023.

Earlier, Mr Noah held a closed door meeting with Football Kenya Federation Busia Branch chairman,Hillary Musundi and his Secretary General, Reuben Olita.

Football Kenya Federation Busia Branch Chairman,Hillary Musundi welcomed the tournament, noting that the event will go along way in nurturing talents in the soccer crazy county.
