Breaking News: Kimilili MP Didmus Barasa ordered to surrender himself to the police after rival’s security aide is shot dead

Bungoma County Commissioner, Samuel Kimiti orders MP Didmus Barasa to surrender himself to the police with immediate effect.

Police in Bungoma County have ordered Kimilili MP Didmus Barasa to surrender himself to the police after his rival’s aide was shot dead this evening following a shooting incident at a polling station.

The incident took place at Chebukwabi primary school at around 6pm. The deceased was a security aide to Brian Khaemba, the DAP-K candidate for the Kimilili parliamentary seat.

“We want Didmus Barasa to surrender himself to the police with immediate effect. We are also asking the members of the public to alert the police if they see him anywhere,” said Bungoma County Commissioner, Samuel Kimiti.

He was accompanied by Defense Cabinet Secretary Eugene Wamalwa who asked the police to launch a manhunt leading to the arrest of the legislator.

According to police report, Mr Khaemba booked the matter at Kimilili police station.

 The report says that the DAP-K candidate had gone to Chebukwabi polling station to witness the counting of votes and upon entering the said polling station where a scuffle ensued between him and Barasa, the Kimilili MP leading to the shooting incident.

The report says Brian Olunga, was shot on the forehead and was rushed to Kimilili Sub County hospital but succumbed while undergoing treatment.

OB 32/09/08/2022 at 1900hrs refers.

It was reported by Mr Brian Khaemba a DAP-K MP aspirant Kimilili Constituency that today at around 1800hrs he had gone to Chebukwabi polling station to witness  the counting of vote and upon entering the said polling station,he met Hon. Didmus Barasa the incumbent MP for Kimilili constituency.

After about three minutes, Mr. Brian Khaemba decided to leave the station and headed to his car Reg. No. KCR 050J where Hon. Didmus Barasa followed him in company of four men and ordered them not to allow him(Mr. Brian Khaemba) to leave the place but Mr Khaemba’s driver one Joshua Nasokho defied the order and ignited the vehicle.Hon. Didmus Barasa withdrew a pistol and aimed at Mr Khaemba’s aide namely Brian Olunga and shot him on the forehead where he profusely bled.He was rushed to Kimilili Sub-County Hospital where he succumbed while undergoing treatment.Scene visited by the police accompanied by Scenes of Crime Personnel from Bungoma County,where the scene was processed and documented.Body lying at the said Hospital pending removal to Delight Funeral Home.
