Kenyans braved the chilly morning to go and cast their votes to decide on who will be the fifth President of Kenya. The top contenders for the presidential race is Azimio Presidential candidate Raila Odinga and his closest challenger, William Ruto of Kenya Kwanza.
As early as 4.30am, voters had started trickling into various polling stations across the country.
“Let’s respect the choices the Kenyans will make in this elections. I am looking forward for resounding victory. I am also asking Kenyans to vote peacefully and wisely,” said DP Ruto after casting his vote.
Ruto together with his wife Rachel, were among the first Kenyans to vote at 6am at Kosachei Primary School in Sugoi, Turbo Constituency, Uasin Gishu County.

Also, Azimio la Umoja presidential running mate, Martha Karua, voted at Mugumo Primary School polling station in Gichugu constituency in Kirinyaga County at 6am. She arrived at the polling station at 5.50am.
“ I have already voted, Let’s all get out and give our country the leadership it deserves,” said Karua after casting her vote.
“Let’s vote to decide who will lead this country for the next five years,” said Former First Lady Mama Ngina Kenyatta after casting her vote in Gatundu South constituency.
Rigathi Gachagua, DP Ruto’s running mate voted at Sagana Primary School. “I am so impressed by the high voter turnout and the process is seamless. I am happy that Kenyans know they have a mandate to elect their leaders. The process is peaceful and that is what we want, we want a peaceful election.”

Meanwhile, there will be no elections in Rongai constituency after the IEBC postponed elections in the area following a mix up in the ballot papers with those from Kuresoi South. However, they will be allowed to vote for the gubernatorial, senatorial, women rep and wardrep seats.
