A 60-year-old farmer from Kericho County is the latest Kenyan to join the ranks of millionaires after correctly predicting the outcome of 13 football matches in a weekly jackpot competition
Dennis Kipkoech, a former tea plantation worker who now farms independently, placed two bets on the midweek football jackpot each costing him just Ksh 99
Denis states that the ticket he filled out more casually, without much analysis, ended up winning him Ksh 10,791,271
“The first one I had taken time to study and think through, but I only got one prediction right, but the second bet which I did without pressure went through, he stated
Kipkoech says the win came at the right time and plans to invest in dairy farming, starting with a move to Githunguri to purchase cows and land for fodder production
“This is an opportunity to build something sustainable, I want to buy dairy cows, then land to grow food for them and myself,” he said.
Having worked for years in manual labor, Kipkoech sees the unexpected windfall as a chance to secure his future and generate income from agriculture, something he has long dreamed of but never had the capital to pursue.

“My dream has finally come true, I have always wanted to own a farm, but financial constraints held me back for years. Now, with this opportunity, I can invest wisely and earn a living from a project I have long hoped to start,” he added
He also acknowledged the broader financial hardship faced by many Kenyans, noting that even accessing a Ksh 10,000 loan today is difficult
“Most of us are struggling financially and it hinders us from owning our own businesses, accessing loan is difficult, that is why this win means so much to me and am so much grateful for the opportunity,” he noted
Despite his newfound fortune, Kipkoech says he’s not done playing and his aim is to win the Mega Jackpot that stands at 421M
