A section of parents whose children school at St Mary’s Mumias girls are up in arms against the Principal and her transfered.
The parents who talked to the media accused the Principal Mrs Monicah Buchichi of running the school as her own business enterprise while disregarding opinions from parents.
They are now calling on Teachers Service Commission to transfer her before the once giant school crumbles to its knees.
“The School, St.Mary’s Mumias has found itself in the limelight. Things are changing in this institution for worse. People have reported, Parents have cried and Students have silently yelled at the state of happenings in the same school,” said Nelly Nanjekho, a parent.
All these seem to fall on deaf ears of The Ministry of Education (M.o.E) and the Kakamega Diocese.
In the onslaught of all these and under the watch of authorities so much that is absurd is going on!!! In the recent times we wish to report Controversies courted in this school since the arrival of Buchichi are at some unique level. Let us consider these.
a. Academics.
It is no news that last year, 2024 irregularities were registered in St. Mar’s. What is appalling is the consistency in these practices. At the moment, the F4 class has been assured of mean of 10.0 plus, with or without working. Our girls are relaxed. At the moment seating at a mean score of 4.0 (D plus). This was the same trend last year. The magic that will be performed by Buchichi and Anyasi, her able D.O.S are subtly known.
In fact in the joint exam done this term, St.Marys sits at no.4 out of 5, beating only some small school. This is sending some chilling fears to us parents and stakeholders.
The Administration has resorted to unorthodox method of illegal remedial. The F4 students are being forced to remain behind to hide the shame they have to parents. Only a few parents who are not in a knowhow seem not to follow these funny and dubious self sufficiencies.
To cheat parents that students are doing well, the learners are being given exams prior to exam dates so that fake results are posted for parents. We are no longer buying these crap Madam Principal.
b. Safety of the Learners.
The Principal has to date employed Policemen to man the school gate. She pays them handsomely. Ostensibly by guidance from the ministry. Allas!!! Is this even reasonable? When this is happening, snakes are roaming the school due to in-hygienic compound. A snake recently bit a F4 student who was treated at KCRH –Kakamega.
Also up to last week, the Management has been slaughtering cows from the field. All of these cows were uninspected!!!. The Principal has since disputed and lied that she built slaughterhouse last year. A blatant lie. This is how safe our girls are?
c. Form 4 Remedials.
It has been reported that the f4s are remaining behind for remedial. We refuse this and demand that the girls are let to rest. The time the girls have been at school is sufficient for coverage of whatever content the teachers needed to cover. We are opposed and direct that like the Ministry stipulates, all remedial during holidays are illegal.
d. Lesbianism
There is raptured levels of this unspeakable vice among the girls. The girls caught in the act confess that since the church prophets talked to them last and this year, it is like the coached them about it. The levels are alarming. Parents are scared about the moralities of their girls and the future generations.
In the most recent occurrence, the girls who were tired of these vices threw their colleagues suspected of lesbianism out of classes and dorms and threatened to beat them up. It took the intervention of the security apparatus to secure the girls under siege.
They slept in the infirmary with school nurses. Nothing is hurtful than seeing a once beacon of virtues turn and skyrocket into such a Babylon type of institution. The rate of rote in our girls is alarming.
We demand still, for the action from the Government.
Efforts to get her comment were futile as her phone went unanswered.
