A police officer serving in Kitale police in Trans Nzoia County was on Monday electrocuted while washing his clothes.
Confirming the incident, Trans Nzoia County Police Commander, Paul Wambugu said the officer stepped on an extension cable connected to a power socket while barefooted.
โThe officer was recently posted to Kitale. He was washing his clothes when he was electronically shockedโ Wambugu confirmed.
Wambugu said that officers and the neighbours of the deceased rushed to the scene to rescue him but they were unable.
โOur police officers and his Kibomet area neighbours tried all they could to save him but it was too late. He was declared dead on arrival at Wamalwa Kijana Teaching and Referral Hospital,โ he added.
He added that investigations have been launched toย establish the cause of the officerโs death.
