Bernard Otieno, a fisherman from Homabay who went missing four days ago has been found dead.
The 37 years old man’s body was found floating at a beach in Ringiti island in Lake Victoria.
According to witnesses, the deceased’s body was in bad shape as he harboured visible injuries and one ear was missing.
Ringiti Island Beach Management Unit Treasurer Daniel Sure immediately mobilised fishermen to retrieve the body before informing the police.
“Some fishermen who were on the beach saw the body floating. They had to get it out so that it is not washed away by waves, “said Sure.
Mr Sure said that Otieno did not return after he left the beach on Sunday for his daily routine of fishing to earn a living.
“We reported the case of a missing person. We could not communicate to him so we concluded that he went missing,” Mr. Sure said.
County Police Commander Samson Kinne said that he had launched investigations on the incident inorder to establish the cause of death.
The deceased’s body was taken to Homabay County Teaching and Referral Hospital mortuary for postmortem.
