Kamunyo’s stint at NHIF comes to and end

The tenure of National Hospital Insurance Fund (NHIF) Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Peter Kamunyo has come to an end.

Dr Kamunyo was appointed on April 14, 2020 during the covid 19 pandemic and will be proceeding on terminal leave.

In his place, body chairman Eng Michael Kamau announced that will be taken by Dr. Samson Kahora, the head of Benefits Design and Claims Management with effect from March 14 in acting capacity.

“In light of the employment contract of the Chief Executive Officer of NHIF Dr Kamunyo coming to an end and aware of the major reforms underway at the fund as part of Kenya kwanza’s transformative agenda, the board has decided to open up the position of Chief Executive Officer for competitive recruitment exercise,” said Kamau in a press release.

He went on: “Kamunyo’s tenure at the fund began in 14th April 2020 after replacing Nicodemus Odongo, who was serving on an interim basis.  Dr kamunyo is expected to finish his three-year term as the CEO on the same day he joined the fund,”

The board thanked Peter Kamunyo for his service.
