The independent electoral and boundaries commission IEBC, Kakamega county is on the spot for appointing the running mate of one of the Kakamega gubernatorial candidates as a Presiding Officer for Shinyalu constituency.
According to a list containing names of the Presiding Officers and Deputy Presiding Officers seen by the County Splash, Gideon Mudanyi has been selected to oversee elections in Shinyalu constituency and is number 144 on the IEBC list of Presiding Officers.
"IEBC is required to run these elections openly and fairly manner, we struggle to understand how it has appointed a deputy candidate to hold election for a sub county where he is contesting over" said Isai.
Mudanyi, is the running mate to Austine Opitso, who eyes for the sit as an independent candidate.
The move has strongly been criticized by several politicians led by Patrick Isai, the deputy chairman of the United Democratic Party (UDP) who associated it with a plot to rig elections.

The election has been scheduled to be held tomorrow, August 29, after being postponed for a second time.
