The MCAs led by former Minority Leader and Kabras West MCA David Ndakwa said the county received a grant of Sh262million from the National Government and another Sh105million that was approved by the county assembly but no one has explained how the money is being spend.

Others are Walter Andati (Butsotso South), Lynda Aseyo (Nominated), Timothy Aseka (nominated), Rodgers Nato (Bunyala East), Anne Kataka (nominated), Farouk Machanje (Isukha South), Stephen Mulonga (Mautuma), Everlyn Mwanzo (Nominated) and Edward Masinde (Bunyala West).

“The county executive needs to tell us which companies were awarded the tenders to supply Covid19 equipment and how procurement process was done. Reliable sources reveal that procurement process was not transparent and leaves a lot of questions unanswered,” claimed Mr. Ndakwa.

Earlier, Kakamega Deputy Governor Philip Kutima clarified that the county is yet to spend the Sh262million Covid19 grant from the National Government due to IFMIS delays, saying the kitty they are using to train frontline healthcare workers and buy PPEs from the Sh105million emergency kitty approved by the County Assembly.

Mr. Machanje, the Isukha South MCA also claimed that they were collecting signatures to impeach Governor Wycliffe Oparanya although he did not provide any documents showing they have kicked off the exercise.

“We need a quick fix of the health sector and as from next week, we want to tour all health facilities in the county to ascertain their viability and report to the county assembly,” said Aseka, the nominated MCA representing Persons with Disabilities (PWDs)
