DCI probing Nzoia sugar managers over loss of 228bags of sugar

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) is investigating Nzoia Sugar Company Managing Director Michael Wanjala and senior managers at the miller over the loss of 228 bags of sugar valued at Sh961, 400.

The DCI is targeting the managing director, finance manager, marketing manager and the board members over the disappearance of 228 bags of sugar.

Also being investigated are senior managers of a bank in Nairobi where the payments were made.

According to a senior manager at the company, a trader was supplied with the said bags of sugar and made payments but did not reflect in the miller’s accounts.

Bungoma South DCI boss Yusuf Nzioka confirmed that investigations were ongoing and anyone found culpable will be prosecuted.

The Managing Director, Mr. Wanjala confirmed that 228 bags of sugar got lost at the company, saying the public and the employees should remain calm until investigations over the matter are over.
