Bungoma Governor Kenneth Lusaka has urged graduates to become innovators and job creators, not job seekers, as he reaffirmed his administrationโ€™s commitment to technical training and youth empowerment.

Speaking during the Kisiwa National Polytechnic graduation ceremony today, Lusaka praised the institution for its role in shaping Kenyaโ€™s future workforce and commended its progress in expanding infrastructure, modernizing programs, and building partnerships with industry.

โ€œKisiwa National Polytechnic has truly lived up to its reputation as one of Kenyaโ€™s leading TVET institutions. Through your commitment to excellence, you have become a beacon of hope and a symbol of progress , not only for Bungoma County but for the entire country,โ€ Lusaka said.

The Governor emphasized that youth are the countyโ€™s greatest asset, noting that his administration has prioritized skills development through 89 vocational training centres across Bungoma. He cited ongoing investments in modern training equipment, digital learning tools, and internship opportunities to enhance employability.

โ€œOur goal is to nurture a generation of job creators, not job seekers,โ€ he stated, highlighting plans to establish innovation and incubation centres at the Sangโ€™alo Industrial Park to support graduates in turning ideas into enterprises.

Encouraging the graduates to face the future with confidence, Lusaka urged them to leverage their training and creativity to transform industries and serve society with integrity.

โ€œDo not fear failure; use every challenge as a stepping stone. Go out, make your mark, and be ambassadors of Bungoma County and Kisiwa National Polytechnic,โ€ he advised.

The event was attended by the Principal Secretary for Higher Education Dr.Beatrice Inyangala, and other dignitaries, who joined in celebrating the achievements of the institutionโ€™s newest cohort of graduates.
