Bungoma County has officially sworn in Edward Oringe Waswa as the new County Attorney, following his successful vetting and approval by the County Assembly. The ceremony, held at the County Headquarters at 9:30 a.m., also saw the swearing-in of Titus Wafula as the Chairperson of the County Affordable Housing Program.

Oringe, born in 1990, holds both a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree in Law from the University of Nairobi. An accomplished Advocate of the High Court, he has previously served in reputable law firms, including Orengo & Company Advocates.
Taking the oath of office, Oringe pledged to uphold professional integrity, safeguard the Constitution, and serve in the best interests of the County Government of Bungoma.
Governor Kenneth Lusaka, who presided over the ceremony, urged the newly sworn-in officials to embrace integrity and remain steadfast in promoting the welfare of Bungoma residents. He expressed confidence in Oringe’s ability to streamline the county’s legal affairs, noting that past legal losses had cost taxpayers significant amounts of money.

“The appointment of a substantive County Attorney will help us reduce costly legal fees paid to external counsel and ensure the county is better represented in court,” Lusaka stated.
The Governor also emphasized the importance of the affordable housing program, expressing optimism that under Wafula’s leadership, the initiative would gain momentum and deliver on its mandate to provide decent housing.
