Bungoma Governor Kenneth Lusaka joined President William Ruto and other national and regional leaders in high-level consultations aimed at assessing the progress of key development projects in Western Kenya.

The meeting, which brought together leaders from across the region, focused on strengthening agricultural value chains, particularly boosting fertilizer uptake to enhance food production. The leaders also discussed the revival of the sugar and coffee sectors, which have long been a backbone of the region’s economy.

Infrastructure development emerged as a top priority, with urgent discussions on improving road networks, expanding power connections, and accelerating the completion of fresh produce markets. The leaders also reviewed progress on universal health coverage and clean water projects, both critical to improving the quality of life for residents.

Governor Lusaka reiterated his commitment to ensuring Bungoma County fully benefits from these initiatives, emphasizing the need for close collaboration between county governments, the national government, and development partners.

“We are keen on ensuring that these projects are not just promises but deliver tangible benefits to our people. Strengthening agriculture, improving infrastructure, and enhancing healthcare are crucial steps toward sustainable development,” Lusaka said.

The consultations underscored the government’s commitment to addressing long-standing challenges in Western Kenya, with leaders agreeing on a joint approach to accelerate implementation and unlock the region’s economic potential.
