The County Government of Bungoma has reinforced its commitment to digital education by extending its partnership with EIDU, a global leader in tech-based learning solutions.

In a move set to revolutionize early childhood education, County Executive Committee Member (CECM) for Education, Engineer Agnes Wachiye, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with EIDU representatives to roll out an expanded digital learning program for Early Childhood Development Education (ECDE) learners across all 45 wards.

Speaking during the signing ceremony at the department’s headquarters, Engineer Wachiye hailed the partnership as a transformative step in modernizing education and equipping young learners with essential digital skills.

“This initiative marks a significant milestone in integrating modern technology into our education system. With over 450 ECDE schools and more than 60,000 learners set to benefit, our teachers will receive specialized training to effectively use digital tools for lesson planning and delivery,” she stated.

EIDU’s representative, Joy Wesonga, reaffirmed the organization’s commitment to bridging the education gap through technology.

“We are excited to deepen our collaboration with Bungoma County and extend access to quality learning resources. Our platform, aligned with the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) and approved by the Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development (KICD), will help improve learning outcomes,” said Wesonga.

Under the agreement, the county and EIDU will jointly fund the program, covering 50% of the costs to ensure affordability and sustainability. The initiative will equip learners with smartphones pre-installed with the EIDU School App, providing interactive mathematics and language content. The app’s offline functionality ensures accessibility in both urban and rural areas, enhancing inclusivity in education.

Additionally, the digital platform will enable county officials to monitor real-time classroom data, track attendance and enrollment, and make informed policy decisions for a more efficient education system.

Bungoma has already piloted the program in all its wards and now looks forward to an expanded rollout, reinforcing its commitment to leveraging technology for enhanced learning experiences.
