Webuye Campus, a constituent of Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology (MMUST), is set to reopen its doors next month with a fresh focus on Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) courses.
The Campus had been closed down for over five years.
This decision follows a strategic agreement between the universityโs management and Bungoma Governor Kenneth Lusaka.
Under the newly inked deal, Bungoma County has leased the university campus for a period of 99 years.
During the event, MMUST representative James Sakwa revealed that the universityโs board had decided to exclusively offer TVET programs at the Webuye campus.
The institution, which will operate with a degree of semi-autonomy, will offer a range of unique diploma courses, including specialized training in pedagogy.
Additionally, it will introduce programs that recognize prior learning, a key innovation aimed at enhancing skills development in the region.
Governor Lusaka, speaking at the event, pledged to support the campusโs success by ensuring the necessary infrastructure is developed to support its growth and operational efficiency.
