The Kenya Kwanza coalition has scoffed at the County Government of Kakamega for blocking them from using Bukhungu stadium last Sunday.

They claim that the county had requested for Sh0.9million but declined to take the money at the eleventh hour.

The said stadium was to host Kenya Kwanza rally a head of Azimio la Umoja – One Kenya rally slated for tomorrow.

"We were blocked from accessing the stadium for our grand rally in Kakamega yet we are bringing revenue to the county government," said Malala.

The Kenya kwanza brigade used the stadium last month for their rally after paying Sh100, 000 an amount that was increased to Sh900,000.

“Despite the sudden increment, we were ready to pay, I had a cheque of 900,000 an amount they have refused on allegations of the banks being closed, this was sabotage of the highest degree” said Cleophas Malala, ANC gubernatorial candidate

Malala said he failed to understand why the county government sabotaged their rally yet they were ready to adhere to the rules by paying the stipulated amount of money required as fee before using the stadium.

“We were blocked from accessing the stadium for our grand rally in Kakamega yet we are bringing revenue to the county government,” said Malala.

He added: “We were forced hold the rally outside the stadium, we will now share the 900,000 among ourselves,”

Benjamin Washiali, the Mumias East MP also criticized the county leadership for inflating the venue fee rising close to a million shillings while their competitors were allowed to use the stadium without paying anything.

According to the IEBC statistics, Kakamega County has a population of 844,709 people registered as voters for the August 9 election with Malava, Lurambi and Likuyani constituencies respectively leading with the highest number of voters in the county.
