A new Self Help Group, Full Gospel Generation (FGG) was unveiled on Sunday with a rallying call to all 72 registered members to promote agricultural production in the sub county.
Speaking during the unveiling of the certificate issued by the director of social development in the ministry of social development, Teso North Sub county chairman Isaac Kimungui said members came together to promote their socio-economic challenges.
Speaking in Rwatama in Angurai South Ward, Kimungui appealed to the county and national governments to be availing grants and subsidised seeds and fertiliser to farmers to meet its objective of improving crop production in the sub county and the country at large.

“I also appeal to the county and national governments to avail financial support to the v group, to enable them eradicate poverty, improve education and economic welfare of members that will result in income generation.
Kimungui said, among other objectives of the SHG is to sensitize the community on the value of education for all, to foster unity and improve relationships in the society, and eradicate poverty by promoting socio-economic activities.
” Other objectives include training members on HIV/Aids awareness, improving economic welfare of members by initiating income generating activities, and promoting environmental challenges.

Self-help Groups (SHGs) are informal associations of people who come together to find ways to improve their living conditions.
They help improve the lives of the poor and marginalised segments of society. They also foster financial inclusion.
Chairperson welfare Joan Kirui urged those who have not registered to do so lest they will be locked out, noting that FGG is a big group.
The group’s spokesperson Emmanuel Kimungui said it was celebration time after the group’s registration on August 7, 2025, noting that the group has auditors and coordinators.
A group member, Bernard Omunga, lauded founder members, saying it’s a good program that will empower the community, especially idle members.
Legal advisor Daniel Omunyongor said the SHG should follow the constitution to the letter while Andrew Opita noted that unity will help the group stand together.

Persons with disabilities Geoffrey Okiru and Maurice Oyakapel exuded confidence that the newly formed SHG will help address challenges bedevilling them.
Shadrack Soit said the group would open an account, adding that they would also seek help from the currentv Member of the County Assembly, Joseph Eseme, former MCA Grace Olita and Angurai North MCA Isaac Wamalwa, among others.
Other members of the executive include vice chairman Michael Oyakapel, Secretary Joshua Ikarot, Vice Secretary Lilian Ikate, treasurer Stella Laibon, and organising Secretary Shadrack Soit.
