The once promising giant of academics St.Mary’s Mumias Girls High school is spiraling into Oblivion since the current self hyped Principal in the name of Miss Buchichi took charge.
A lot is going on. A lot is hidden. A lot is protectively being covered while it’s obvious the learners and and community will hurt.
1.The Student Discipline…The Standards of discipline from the student s have really gone down. Under her watch students can carry bhang to school. Under her stewardship, the moral standards have nosedived to the worst.
2. Academic Discipline…in the last kcse exams, reports of exam malpractice were reported and verified. The teachers at the same school were barred from marking like some other schools where such acts were discovered. She however manipulated the facts and turned round to blame it on teachers, parents and the BoM. Her usual way of operations is shifting blames after she blunders.
Students to this end even confessed some to their parents to stealing exams. Most parents have opted their girls would rather repeat the class rather than live a lie.
At school, those still their have relaxed. They know at the end of the year, exams will be brought to them and/or they be allowed to copy like 2024.
The once environment that pushed girls to their limits of hard work has turned out as a lazy ground where purpose and motto has grown elusive.
Buchichi is teaching girls, our girls that examinations can just be stolen and one lives with it!!!
The frequency of testing is also wanting. To this time, week 7, there us no single exam done and reported to parents!!!! How does such a school manage mean of 8.2?
In another bezzire twist, because parents have noted the detoriation in levels of academics, she has with her DoS one Anyasi decided to set exams and give to students two weeks with same exams after which the same is brought to the learners as the internal exam.
The parents however know this and are not amused by this cadre of nonsense. There’s so much happenings here that we may not adequately mention.
3. Finances….Buchichi is systematically stealing everything in the school coffers. She has very high appetites for any monies. She manipulates her way into any school resources just to steal and benefit from them. The illegal Sh.10,500 she has been collecting has not done a single thing yet paents were massively made to pay up since term two of 2024. No Van.
The dorm she purpoted to finish has not been touched . reports reaching us is that the dorm has even started collapsing because of the negligence .
Suppliers have not been paid. Most of the suppliers have pulled out since the manipulative Monicah hasn’t paid them since she came to Mumias. Some are even planning to sue the school.
The Remedial Fee which we have been paying regualry has never reached the intended teachers since Mid of last year 2024.
The appetite for money by this Madam is on another level!! From our observation teachers are demotivated and dissolusioned. She turns round all her flaws only to bedevil and humiliate teachers, accusing them of all manner of things she herself is involved in.
Obvious financial obligations are avoided. For example simple things like buying of exercise books for renewal have never been bought for students since last year.
Parents are wondering. They have to buy books every other time. Unnecessary events that do not add any value to her key role, curriculum implementation are what defines her priorities.
A case in question is for example having a ‘Talents’ Event in term three where a whooping close to Sh500,000 was spend. She brings some “spiritual” persons who exorcise spirits from students at a fee.
Reliably informed she pays them for the same. To this end, she recently brought in one Welsey and lied that he is a prophet based in the U.K. forced the whole staff to attend and watch him perform some” very funny” miracles on students.
It was a Sunday All these are her ways of siphoning monies. Others include but not only the “Mothers Day” and “Fathers Day” where millions of cash are collected from us parents. This is “intended” to help needy students. Another real big hoax. It’s not fair at all. Buchichi is not fair at all.
The major most undoing of Buchichi is management of school funds. Who will come to this school’s rescue?
4. Canal Knowledge by teachers… The Principal last year confessed on a viral WhatsApp message posted on the official School Wall that her teachers were sleeping with students. She added that she had been covering them up and that she would report the same the following week. So far no teacher has been found guilty of the allegation.
Was she truthful or is this just another of her ways of manipulating and hurting the teachers? Recently also, while addressing the P.A meeting at school, she claimed that one of her teacher is still having Carnal Knowledge affairs with students, even exchanging nude photos. She says she’s on the process of interdicting the teacher. It remains to be seen if this materializes since upto know, confirmed reports from school have no such processes ongoing.
Whether these claims are true or otherwise, it’s appalling that the CEO of such a school as St.Marys knows about and is abetting such crime.
5. Absenteeism ….the “good madam” plus her deputies are never in school. Rarely will you find them in school especially over the weekend. When a child fell sick within the term before succumbing from hospital in bungoma, no body in the ranks was available. No wonder she came up in defence to claim illness. What she knows best is how to cook up a defence story.
6.Tensions so unnecessary …. She has generated so much tension between teachers, parents and even workers like it has never been before. She has divided the school into sectarians that grossly hate each other. She uses threats and even curses to intimidate.
A teacher holding contrary opinion was sent to the CDE and given transfer just to scare others. One teacher intimated to me that the staff meetings and briefs are all about threats and intimidations. No one is at peace with her around.
There is need for someone to come rescue this beautiful school from this levels of Mismanagements.
