The Bungoma County Assembly has approved the Youth Policy, 2024, and Sports Policy, 2024, marking a major milestone in youth empowerment and sports development.

Spearheaded by Governor Kenneth Lusaka’s administration, the policies are set to tackle youth unemployment, promote talent development, and enhance sports infrastructure. They also aim to foster youth participation in governance and socio-economic activities.

β€œThese policies lay the foundation for an empowered, innovative, and self-reliant generation,” Governor Lusaka remarked, reiterating his commitment to empowering young people as key drivers of socio-economic transformation.

The Youth Policy emphasizes capacity building, support for start-ups, and inclusion of vulnerable groups, while the Sports Policy seeks to position sports as a unifying force and a catalyst for youth growth.

The adoption, following a report by the County Assembly’s Youth and Sports Committee led by Hon. Violet Makhanu, has been lauded as a significant stride in advancing the Governor’s vision for a vibrant and inclusive Bungoma County.
