Dairy Cows To Benefit Bungoma Women- Governor Lusaka

Bungoma Womenโ€™s groups are set to benefit from the second cohort of Dairy Cows distribution. Governor Kenneth Lusaka has said.

โ€œIn my tenure as the first Governor, I embarked on a dairy project by buying 450 dairy cows that were distributed in 45 wards as a grant. We want to revive it in a more magnificent way. It is factored in our budgetโ€, He said.

Lusaka emphasized on the need for residents to invest in dairy farming, saying that Bungoma has the potential to be a major milk supplier in the region.

โ€œAm glad that the progress and the impact of the flagship project is being felt by the people. There is a huge opportunity in dairy farming. Money lies herein. Let us all embrace this type of farmingโ€, He Said.

He stated that his legacy administration is keen on ensuring residents embrace dairy farming to improve their livelihood.

โ€œThis venture could be our cash cow if well executed.So many homesteads have gained economic freedom through dairy farmingโ€, He reiterated.

Lusaka further expressed the County Governmentโ€™s commitment to enhance the implementation of the project in a more efficient way by training farmer groups in all aspects of dairy farming from value addition, financial education, budgeting and risk management and investment.

โ€œThis project requires consistency. Even as we plan to roll out the distribution, we need to also focus on sustainabilityโ€, He affirmed.

Lusaka supported dairy cooperatives to access milk packaging machines, milk ATMs and homogenized as the pioneer Governor.

He spoke in Mihuu Ward, Webuye East, while attending a Thanksgiving Sunday service at Mulachi Salvation Army .
