Agnes wanjahi a civil servant and a mca candidate for Makomoni ward in Tharaka Nithi county narrates her story on how she became a “Mjengo” worker after the 2022 general election.
Wanjahi was nominated as Devolution party of Kenya (DPK) MCA led by Party leader Prof. Kindiki, she was also in kenya kwanza where she was at the fore front campaigning for Dr.William Ruto in Tharaka Nithi county. According to her she was amongst the best frontier youths who were looking for women and youth numbers for ruto to be able to have votes in Tharaka Nithi.
By Lucking people to hold her hands, After election wanjahi had no place to fall back into and sustain herself so she decided to look for a job that could at least help her. She landed a job at the construction site where she decided to try since it was her first time at mjengo.
“ After election I found myself not having a place to fall back into, something to sustain myself and I searched everywhere for a job but I didn’t get it. The only place I was able to get a job in this Mjengo construction site where I decided to try though I had never done this before,”she said
“ I put my heart out there and I put my best foot forward to try and see what I can be able to get from this place.” She added
Agnes says that she is coming out to say whatever she is going through and a give advice to those who have ambitions in politics
“ At this moment am coming out to say whatever am going through, am not seeking for pity but am coming out to share my pain, my struggles so that someone else should not go through whatever am going through.”she continues
She spent all of her savings and money to find a good leadership for her people and also campaigning for William Ruto but she was not able to win.
“In politics you spend a lot of money, you spend your savings but you have nothing to fall back into” she added.
Now Wanjahi is appealing to President William Ruto to give appoint those young people who supported him as he is doing to other Kenya Kwanza allies.
