Ababu: Ruto’s administration will work with Governor Barasa to nurture youth talents

Sports Cabinet Secretary Ababu Namwamba vowed to work closely with the Kakamega governor to nurture talents in Kakamega County

Speaking at Bukhungu stadium during the final tournament for the Elijah Lidonde Tournament of under 15 years and under 17years.

Ababu said that he is impressed with how Kakamega County is working hard in nurturing talents and he is ready to partner with the county governor to complete the face two of Bukhungu stadium for it to host big events.

“I am impressed with how Kakamega County is working so hard to nature talents and because of this we agree with the county governor to complete the face two of the Bukhungu stadium and upgrade it to national standards so that big events like the African Cup of nations can be hosted here in Kakamega,” said Namwamba

Ababu said that president William Ruto is planning to start Bottom-up grassroots tournaments under Talanta Hela Program which is looking forward to developing talents from the bottom.

“President William Ruto has announced a big grassroots tournament, Talanta Hela Bottom-up football tournament which is looking forward to nurturing talents from the bottom, to the top and then to the world,” said Ababu

He went on: “Elijah Lindonde Tournament is a good example of a bottom-up tournament and it will emphasize under 15 and under 17 to realize the dream of Kenya playing in the world cup come 2030. We are going to work with the foundation and the county to utilize the system that is already there. I can proudly say that Kakamega is already prepared for the Bottom-up football tournament,”

ng talents in Kakamega County is one of the six agendas that he put in place to accomplish while in office.

“In my six agendas, nurturing talents is one of them and because of that we have a program of coming up with three sports academies in three regions across Kakamega County one in Malava, another one in Lurambi or Shinyalu, and another in Kwisero Sub County,” said Barasa

Barasa also said that the county has allocated resources to nat talents and committed to working closely with the ministry of sports in nurturing youths’ talents.

“Am very excited to host the Elijah Lidonde Foundation Championship where we are having the finals of under 15 and under 17. As a county, we are very committed to nurturing talents and I would like to join the ministry of sports in nurturing the talents of our youths as we are aware Kakamega is a sporty county and has allocated resources to support our youth,” said Barasa
