A meet the people tour by Bungoma governor Wycliffe Wangamati in Tongaren sub county was marred with violence living at least two people seriously injured .
Nominated MCA Fred Musebe and a body guard attached to Bungoma governor Wyclife Wangmati were seriously injured during the melee.
Wangamati was in the area to open the office of a ward administrator.
Nominated MCA Fred Musebe sustained a broken law jaw after receiving a kicks and blows from Wangamati’s bodyguards.
There has been a frosty relationship between Wangamati and the MCAs after the attempted Ford Kenya coup that Wangamati was one of the planners.
The bad blood has seen the MCAs last month impeach three county ministers on accusations of abuse of office and graft related issues.
Trouble started when nominated MCA Fred Musebe took to the podium to address residents and criticized Wangamati’s regime for neglecting Tongaren in terms of development.
The MCA further accused Sports and gender chief officer Caro Masete for fueling bad blood between Tongaren MCAs and Wangamati by feeding the Governor with lies and rumors against the ward bosses.
Before the MCA could finish his speech his microphone was snatched from him and manhandled by Wangamati’s supporters, which erupted into a war.
It took the intervention of Mbakalo police officers and Wangamati to intervene and calm the situation.
Musebe asked Wangamati to compete the Misikhu brigadier road that was started by former Governor Ken Lusaka, the now senate speaker.
‘’Your excellence we as MCAs are wondering with your misplaced priorities yet you are very learned how do you take a dairy milk processing plant to Webuye instead of putting it here in Tongaren where milk is available from the many dairy farmers we have,’’ he said.
The Ford Kenya party Secretary General Eseli Simiyu is the MP for Tongaren Constituency that is cosmopolitan.
‘’ In Tongaren we have lots of rumors among our people who have been feeding our Governor with lies that we will not accept,’’ he said.
Tongaren MCA Tindi joined his colleague Musebe and condemned the incident.
Musebe left the function bleeding and reported the matter at Mbakalo police station before proceeding to Lumakanda Hospital for treatment.
The meeting proceeded on with high tension.
