Residents of Lugari constituency have lashed out at the area Member of Parliament Ayub Savula over sorry state of schools in his constituency.

The residents are wondering why Savula is not using the CDF kitty that the constituency gets to a tune of Sh110million every financial year to improve the infrastructure of the schools.

They are now attributing the poor performance posted last year in national examinations, both in Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) and Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) to the unconducive learning environment.

“Savula is busy moving around the county in pretense that he is looking for the governor’s seat instead of focusing on his development agenda at the ward level. We are tired of him since he has failed to live as per our expectations,” said Maurice Mulama, a local.

Mulama now wants Savula to use the CDF money to construct ultra-modern classrooms at Kafsi Primary School at Luandeti area in Lugari constituency.

“The mud-walled where our children learn from are in pathetic state. Savula must come and address this problem before he asks us to support his gubernatorial bid. We shall vote him out,” he said.

Teachers also sit outside the classroom and during rainy seasons, they are forced to mix with the pupils. “The situation is bad when it starts raining. We are forced to send pupils in lower primary home and create room for the remaining in the staff room and the two classrooms,’

The roll out of the Competency Based Curriculum (CBC) from Grade one to Grade has been has also complicated the situation further.

The number of pupils at the school has tremendously increased thus overstretching the already existing ramshackle classes.

In some instances, some classes have in excess of 100 pupils and yet they recommended capacity per class is 40 and to the worse, some pupils learn under the trees.

The pupils are also infested with jiggers.
