Vihiga Governor Wilber Ottichilo\ntoday received drugs worth Sh36million from the Kenya Medical Supplies Agency\n(KEMSA).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is a major boost in the health\nsector in times of Covid19 when the devolved units are struggling to curb the\nspread of the virus as well as remaining afloat with skewed budgetary\nallocations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The drugs and non-pharmaceuticals\nwill be distributed across all health facilities in Vihiga County to boost\nhealth care services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Addressing the media at the County\nheadquarters, Ottichilo took the opportunity to thank the national government\nthrough the ministry of health for the support it has accorded the counties\nthrough the Universal Health Coverage (UHC) Program. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ottichilo applauded the healthcare workers for the sacrifice and dedication they have put in place in curbing the spread Covid-19 and assured them that the county is processing their Sh28 million risk allowances that they will receive at the end of the month. <\/em><\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

The Governor also thanked KEMSA for\nthe timely and consistent supply of drugs pledging that his administration will\nalways pay for the supplies in good time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ottichilo applauded the healthcare workers for the sacrifice and dedication they have put in place in curbing the spread Covid-19 and assured them that the county is processing their Sh28 million risk allowances that they will receive at the end of the month. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Governor also called on Vihiga\nresidents to take personal responsibility to prevent the spread of Covid-19.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr. Patrick Saisi, the Deputy Governor asked the healthcare workers to put the medical supplies to prudent use for the benefit of Vihiga residents. He cautioned that those found misusing the drugs will be dealt with. <\/strong><\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Dr. Amos Kutwa, the CECM in charge\nof health said the county in partnership with the ministry of health under the\n(UHC) program had recruited 167 healthcare workers to boost service delivery.\nHe also said the county government was in the process of recruiting 440\nCommunity Health Workers to promote primary healthcare.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Elsewhere, Ottichilo released a\ntotal of Sh25million for the second phase of Trade and Enterprise Fund. The\nmoney will be disbursed to groups and individuals in the business world. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ottichilo who launched the exercise\nat Mulukhoro area in Emuhaya Sub County asked the beneficiaries to put the loan\ninto prudent use to spur economy of the county. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

“This is a revolving fund and\nmy Government’s desire is that it serves generations in this County, I\ntherefore urge you to put the money into good use for better returns”,\nsaid Ottichilo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

 The County boss said the most important thing\nis capacity building for the business sector so that people can engage in\nviable and profitable business ventures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Governor also officially opened\nthe Vihiga Trade and Enterprise Fund Board’s offices and commissioned a vehicle\nthat the board members will use for field work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Deputy Governor Dr Patrick Saisi\nurged beneficiaries of the fund to implore prudence in managing the money so as\nto transform their lives and boost County economy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Vihiga County Trade and\nEnterprise Fund was formed in 2019 and 33 million shillings was disbursed in\nthe first year of inception.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Present at the event were Deputy\nGovernor Dr Patrick Saisi, Trade CECM Elvuna Keseko,Chief officer Gilbert\nVidija, Director administration Harrison Matevwa, Sub County and Ward\nadministrators, Fund’s board members and beneficiaries of the Fund.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
