{"id":976,"date":"2020-07-18T14:44:23","date_gmt":"2020-07-18T14:44:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/countysplash.co.ke\/?p=976"},"modified":"2020-07-18T14:44:23","modified_gmt":"2020-07-18T14:44:23","slug":"oparanya-pumps-sh90million-into-clean-water-project","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/horizonnews.co.ke\/?p=976","title":{"rendered":"Oparanya pumps Sh90million into clean water project"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Kakamega<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">By GPU<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Provision of safe and clean water to\nresidents of Kakamega remains one of the priority projects of the County\nGovernment of Kakamega under the stewardship of Governor Wycliffe Oparanya.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&nbsp;Through the Kakamega County Rural and Urban\nWater Sanitation Corporation (KACUWASCO), the County Government is implementing\nmulti-million water projects in the county to realize this objective of piped\nclean and safe water to households.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"960\" height=\"640\" src=\"https:\/\/horizonnews.co.ke\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/109292553_2516954135074724_3756931881679254063_n.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-978\" srcset=\"https:\/\/horizonnews.co.ke\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/109292553_2516954135074724_3756931881679254063_n.jpg 960w, https:\/\/horizonnews.co.ke\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/109292553_2516954135074724_3756931881679254063_n-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/horizonnews.co.ke\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/109292553_2516954135074724_3756931881679254063_n-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/horizonnews.co.ke\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/109292553_2516954135074724_3756931881679254063_n-696x464.jpg 696w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 960px) 100vw, 960px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In addition to other water projects\nalready initiated by the county government, H.E. the governor Monday afternoon\nlaunched construction of a 5000 cubic metres water tank at Lirhanda, Shinyalu\nsub county at cost of Sh 90 million set to be completed in four months.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&nbsp;The project will among other objectives ensure\nan improvement in water adequacy and enhance reliability of water supply in\norder to mitigate any existing water rationing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ggovernor said the project will\nserve as a reservoir for the Milimani water project situated at Milimani,\nKakamega town. \u201cMembers of the community and institutions living within this\narea will also benefit from this project; pipes will be installed to people\u2019s\nhomes to rid off the lengthy process of applying for water reading meters,\u2019\u2019 he\nsaid. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"960\" height=\"640\" src=\"https:\/\/horizonnews.co.ke\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/109284971_2516954535074684_708547377130497494_n.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-979\" srcset=\"https:\/\/horizonnews.co.ke\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/109284971_2516954535074684_708547377130497494_n.jpg 960w, https:\/\/horizonnews.co.ke\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/109284971_2516954535074684_708547377130497494_n-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/horizonnews.co.ke\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/109284971_2516954535074684_708547377130497494_n-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/horizonnews.co.ke\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/109284971_2516954535074684_708547377130497494_n-696x464.jpg 696w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 960px) 100vw, 960px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Besides the Lirhanda water project,\nthe county government is also, with support of other partners, implementing\nLugari-Musembe water project in Lugari, Misango hills and Lwakhupa water\nprojects in Khwisero and Navakholo sub counties respectively as well as the\nIndustrial park water project in Mumias.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Governor Oparanya also revealed that\nconstruction works on the Kakamega airstrip-Chepsonoi road were in the\npipeline. The road is an important linkage of Vihiga and Kakamega counties\nthrough the tropical Kakamega rain forest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&nbsp;\u201cThe Cabinet Secretary for Interior and\nCoordination of National Security Dr. Fred Matiang\u2019I and his Transport and\nInfrastructure counterpart James Macharia will soon be here to inspect national\ngovernment projects within the county. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"960\" height=\"640\" src=\"https:\/\/horizonnews.co.ke\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/109259642_2516953758408095_2448371189139812343_n.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-977\" srcset=\"https:\/\/horizonnews.co.ke\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/109259642_2516953758408095_2448371189139812343_n.jpg 960w, https:\/\/horizonnews.co.ke\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/109259642_2516953758408095_2448371189139812343_n-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/horizonnews.co.ke\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/109259642_2516953758408095_2448371189139812343_n-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/horizonnews.co.ke\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/109259642_2516953758408095_2448371189139812343_n-696x464.jpg 696w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 960px) 100vw, 960px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This road among other stalled\ngovernment projects are some of the important discussions we will be having\nwith them,\u2019\u2019 the governor said. He welcomed the recent waiving of over Kshs. 65\nbillion owed to the government by sugar millers in the Western region terming\nit a positive move in the efforts to revive the ailing sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In attendance were deputy governor\nProf. Philip Museve Kutima, Women Representative Elsie Muhanda, CECMs, Mambers\nof the County Assembly led by the deputy speaker Hon.
