Business and transport activities were brought to a\nstandstill at Bungoma County governor\u2019s office entry gate when people living\nwith disability stripped themselves blaming county guards for their hindrance\nto access the county office.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

They blamed governor Wangamati for neglecting them\nwhenever they want him to hear their grievances.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The peaceful protest started at around 8am on\nWednesday at Bungoma airstrip which lasted for the whole day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

They sang traditional songs calling on Wangamati to\nintervene as corona virus bites.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ben Wekesa alias known as Obama representing those\nliving with albinism in Mt. Elgon blamed Titus Ndalu the representative of PLWD\nin Bungoma County for partnering with the county government to benefit\nthemselves and other few greedy fellows.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2018\u2019Since Coronavirus came to Kenya specifically to\nBungoma PLWD i haven\u2019t gotten any support from the county leadership which have\npropelled me to organize for this peaceful demo,\u2019\u2019 he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He added that the county government spend much in\nknitting of facemasks at Wekelekha Vocation training institute which PLWD\ndidn\u2019t access even facemask.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2018\u2019I heard Governor Wangamati on radio saying that he\nhas made face masks which will distributed to vulnerable homes but I myself I\ndidn\u2019t receive any,\u2019\u2019 he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He lauded the move by the government of Kenya for\nconsidering youths for kazi mtaani programme but they haven\u2019t considered PLWD.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2018\u2019I think this kazi mtaani programme should be\ncarried out without any tribalism, skin colour or the clan that come from it\nshould cut across all communities,\u2019\u2019 he said, calling on Bungoma county\ncommissioner to consider those living with disability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2018\u2019Even those living with disability need money and\nare able to work, disability is not in ability,\u2019\u2019 he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, Titus Ndalu Chairman of People living with\ndisability in Bungoma County dismissed the allegations saying that he is\nfollowing the ministry of health directives in holding illegal meetings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2018\u2019I want to tell my friends who are on the way\nprotesting, it is something internal which we could have solved , accusing me\nis not a solution, please we can\u2019t work that way  am strictly following the ministries\ndirectives in combating the curb the spread of Coronavirus,\u2019\u2019 he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He accused Governor Wangamati\u2019s opponents who might\nhave funded them to cause disorder in town to stop and concentrate much on\ndevelopment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He added through the county government he was able\nto distribute facemasks and relief foodstuffs to PLWD.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2018\u2019The county gave me facemasks and foodstuffs which\nI distributed in all the nine sub-counties, I don\u2019t know what has really pushed\nmy good friends to disclose their anger on the street,\u2019\u2019 he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
