At least Persons Living with Disabilities\n(PWDs) from Ilesi location in Shinyalu constituency on July 12, received relief\nfood from a well-wisher, who is also a PWD.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The donation was from Patrick\nMatekwa, the chairperson Ilesi disabled self-help group, which was launched on\nthe same day. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Each of the beneficiaries received\nat least 2kilos of maize flour, a tissue paper and a soap aimed at cushioning\nthem for the bites of coronavirus disease where over 9500 people have been\ninfected with the disease.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

They also received two chicken each,\nwhich they are supposed to rear to cushion them from poverty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mr. Matekwa while addressing the\npress at Ilesi Chief Office, he said that PWDs had been hard hit by the\npandemic and called for more assistance from both the county and the national\ngovernment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

 \u201cDisabled people are going through a hard and\nthat they are unable to put food on the table after the government ordered that\nwe stay at home as a way of curbing the spread of the virus,\u201d said Matekwa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He decried that the money that was set\naside for the vulnerable is nowhere to be seen even after they sent in their applications.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This comes a few months after the\npresident appropriated an additional Sh10B to cushion the vulnerable during the\nCOVID 19 pandemic that included the disabled. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mr James Wendo Khatabasi, the PWDs Chairman\nin Shinyalu Sub County said the government must urgently help them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
