Clement Omondi, a 33-year-old from Nairobi, left his new girlfriend, Jackline, stunned after he disappeared in the middle of their dinner at an upmarket city hotel\u2014leaving her with a bill of KSh 50,000.<\/p>\n

The two had only been dating for a month when Jackline decided to show up with five of her friends, assuming Clement would happily cover the night\u2019s lavish expenses. Partway through the evening, Clement excused himself to \u201ctake a phone call\u201d and never came back. By closing time, Jackline and her friends were stuck with the hefty bill. Hotel staff, unconvinced by her explanations, reportedly held her overnight as she tried to sort out the mess.<\/p>\n

Clement later admitted his disappearing act was deliberate. Despite being financially well-off, he explained that he refuses to spend recklessly just to impress. \u201cIt wasn\u2019t about whether I could pay\u2014it was about principle,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

What most people don\u2019t know is that Clement made his fortune through sports b’etting.
