The programme, an initiative by County First Ladies Association, seeks to keep the girls and boys in school\nby improving their access to the basic but very essential hygiene materials.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"960\" height=\"640\" src=\"https:\/\/horizonnews.co.ke\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/105675809_2464919253611546_7151931615832393859_n.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-929\" srcset=\"https:\/\/horizonnews.co.ke\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/105675809_2464919253611546_7151931615832393859_n.jpg 960w, https:\/\/horizonnews.co.ke\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/105675809_2464919253611546_7151931615832393859_n-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/horizonnews.co.ke\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/105675809_2464919253611546_7151931615832393859_n-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/horizonnews.co.ke\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/105675809_2464919253611546_7151931615832393859_n-696x464.jpg 696w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 960px) 100vw, 960px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;We want to end the trauma caused by lack of these essentials by our young\nchildren, sometimes leading to drop out from school,&#8221; Mrs. Oparanya said\nafter receiving the donation in her office, Kakamega.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To keep the initiative alive, the first lady who is also a maternal health\nchampion in Kakamega County has so far partnered with Lapfund Trust, Huru\nInternational and the Kenya Red Cross since the programme started in the year\n2018, giving hope to hundreds of needy young boys and girls. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;I also call on other interested well-wishers willing to support us to\nwelcome aboard so that we can improve the self-esteem of our children and keep\nthem in school,&#8221; she added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"960\" height=\"640\" src=\"https:\/\/horizonnews.co.ke\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/104965941_2464919446944860_1116191975059993967_n.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-930\" srcset=\"https:\/\/horizonnews.co.ke\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/104965941_2464919446944860_1116191975059993967_n.jpg 960w, https:\/\/horizonnews.co.ke\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/104965941_2464919446944860_1116191975059993967_n-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/horizonnews.co.ke\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/104965941_2464919446944860_1116191975059993967_n-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/horizonnews.co.ke\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/104965941_2464919446944860_1116191975059993967_n-696x464.jpg 696w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 960px) 100vw, 960px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Today&#8217;s contribution will target two public schools and one other school for\nthe mentally and physically challenged children. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Kenya Red Cross team was led by madam Lilian Matimu from KRCS\nHeadquarters, Nairobi and madam Euphrasia Musundi the organisation&#8217;s\nrepresentative in Kakamega.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ends<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Kakamega By GPU Kakamega County First Lady Priscillah Oparanya has received a donation of sanitary towels, inner wears for girls &amp; underpants for boys as well as washing soap from the Kenya Red Cross, Nairobi.
