Bungoma Governor Kenneth Makelo Lusaka has lauded the Kenya Red Cross Society for six decades of humanitarian service, describing the organisation as a \u201cbeacon of hope\u201d for millions of Kenyans.<\/p>\n

Speaking during the Kenya Red Cross @60 celebrations, Lusaka, who also serves as the Patron of the Bungoma Branch, praised the agency\u2019s enduring commitment to saving lives and alleviating suffering in the most challenging circumstances.<\/p>\n

\u201cFor sixty years, the Red Cross has been at the frontline, responding to floods, landslides, droughts, and health emergencies. They are always among the first to arrive and the last to leave,\u201d the governor noted.<\/p>\n

Lusaka highlighted the organisation\u2019s footprint in Bungoma County, citing blood donation drives, youth empowerment initiatives, community health outreach, and emergency response efforts. He singled out volunteers as the \u201cheartbeat of the Red Cross,\u201d commending their sacrifices and devotion to humanity.<\/p>\n

\u201cKenya salutes you. Bungoma celebrates you,\u201d he said, reaffirming his administration\u2019s commitment to strengthening partnerships with the humanitarian body. He pledged continued collaboration in disaster preparedness, climate resilience, and public health initiatives through joint planning and resource support.<\/p>\n

Looking ahead, Lusaka urged stakeholders to prepare for emerging global challenges such as pandemics, climate change, and conflicts, calling for renewed solidarity and empowerment of young people in humanitarian work.<\/p>\n
