A somber mood has engulfed residents of Malava,\nKakamega County after the body of a form one student was found lying in her\nbedroom, in a suspected suicide case.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It is believed that the deceased might have given\nup in life by consuming poison after she was requested to stop having sexual\nrelations with men in the area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to the victim’s parents, they said that\nthey were overwhelmed by daughter\u2019s drastic behavioral change after she was\nbeing spotted frequently hanging around with different men.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
They advised her to stop mingling with men carelessly\nan advice they say might have upset her leading to her death.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“We have been spotting her with different\nmen”. Said her grieving mother.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to his father, he noted a change in her\ndaughter’s behavior after she joined form one and feared she might be\nimpregnated while still a student.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“As we were talking to her that night, she got\nup went to his room and locked herself in.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“Our efforts to get her to open the door were\nfruitless, the following morning we broke down the door and found her body on\nthe bed, foam was in her mouth and a pesticide bottle beside her, we suspect\nshe took her life by taking the drug,” said her father.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Burundu area chief Henry Masinde confirmed the case\nand has called on parents to be watchful of their children conduct especially\nat this time when they are at home after school were closed due to corona\npandemic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“This is an unfortunate incident we need to\nmonitor the behavior of your children while they are at home on this long\nholiday, don’t force them to do something they don\u2019t want.” Said the\nchief.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He noted, more than 100 students in the county have\nreportedly been pregnant during this corona holiday alone fearing the number\nmight increase even further.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
