Over 200 houses were washed away.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Bungoma\nSub-county has a total population of 43,755 people whereby those below the age\nof 5 years are 9,003, female at the productive age of 12 years and above are\n12,288 and those leaving with disabilities are 2,106.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In Bungoma\nSouth Sub-County 124, residents have been tested with the Covid-19 and amongst them,\nno one tested positive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Addressing\nthe press today, area Deputy County Commissioner Michael Yator said that they\nwere working closely with the local leaders to ensure the residents are safe\nfrom Covid19.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&nbsp;\u2018\u2019We formed covid-19 response team within our\nSub-County whereby we meet once per week to discuss on progress of our\npeople,\u2019\u2019 he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He\nhowever, applauded the move by Kanduyi MP Wafula Wamunyinyi who have greatly\nsupported the fight against the spread of the Covid-19 by providing auto-mated\nsanitizing booths within Bungoma town populated areas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2018\u2019I\nappreciate our area MP Wafula Wamunyinyi for parting with us in food donations,\nface mask supply and hand wash sanitizers without forgetting major partners\nlike Chamber of commerce Bungoma, Bungoma County government, the Rotary Club\nand the Kenya Red cross In ensuring that our people stay safe,\u2019\u2019 he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/countysplash.co.ke\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/Yator-1024x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-805\"\/><figcaption> Deputy County Commissioner Michael Yator  (centre)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&nbsp;He\nadded that the Government is having a plan to employ youths from all villages\nwho will help in cleaning the dirty areas within the Sub-County siting\nMwikhupo, Namwacha, West Sang\u2019alo, Kibabii, Sio And oldrex as the most affected\nslums in Bungoma.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2018\u2019This is\na government program at recruiting all unemployed youths to help in the\ncleaning of slum villages and planting of trees,\u2019\u2019 he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He warned\nresidents who have ignored the use of masks that when spotted the law will\napply.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2018\u2019I plead\nto our boda boda riders kindly when you are carrying &nbsp;passengers make sure\nyou wear face mask, you never the person you are carrying,\u2019\u2019 he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ends.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table\"><table class=\"\"><tbody><tr><td><\/td><td><\/td><\/tr><tr><td>\n  \n   \n    \n   \n  \n  <\/td><td><\/td><td><\/td><\/tr><tr><td><\/td><td><\/td><td><\/td><td><\/td><td><\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Bungoma By Tony Wafula Over 7,500 families in Bungoma South Sub-county who were affected by the flash floods will get relief food from the government.
