He\nwas in Form Two and his wife was in Form Three. He had already made a name for\nhimself given that while in Form Two Student at Lirhanda Secondary School, he\nhad already made a name for himself after releasing his first gospel album \u2013 I\nsurrender with six songs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Digit One said being a na\u00efve God\nfearing student, it was his wife, Prudence who made the first move by first\ntaking his number after he had performed one of his songs He was a brand name\nand the two say, it was love at first sight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/countysplash.co.ke\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/DSC_2417-1024x678.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-782\"\/><figcaption> <strong><em>Digit One and his wife, Prudence Khasokha <\/em><\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&nbsp;The police officer is now juggling\nbetween maintaining law and order while at the same time advancing in his music\ncareer. His colleagues at Gari Hills Police Post refer to him as \u2018Pastor\u2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&nbsp;While growing up, he said that\nhe used to write poems and wanted to publish a book but one day after reciting\nto a poem he had authored to his classmates, they told him that he had a talent\nin singing and that he should pursue it. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He said his teachers and students\nfundraised for him to record his first album.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The AP officer told County Splash\nNews that part of the proceeds from his first album enabled him to pay for his\nschool fees in form two and form three and that he released three more single\nhits while in Form Three but took a break when in Form Four to concentrate on\nhis studies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p> After the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE), he released  another single hit \u2018Najua utatenda\u2019 which now officially introduced him  to the industry as he was now able to do live performances in leading  churches in Western region and was able to eke a living out of it. <\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&nbsp;After the Kenya Certificate of\nSecondary Education (KCSE), he released another single hit \u2018Najua utatenda\u2019\nwhich now officially introduced him to the industry as he was now able to do\nlive performances in leading churches in Western region and was able to eke a\nliving out of it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"534\" height=\"800\" src=\"https:\/\/horizonnews.co.ke\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/POLICE.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-779\" srcset=\"https:\/\/horizonnews.co.ke\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/POLICE.jpg 534w, https:\/\/horizonnews.co.ke\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/POLICE-200x300.jpg 200w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 534px) 100vw, 534px\" \/><figcaption><strong><em>Bernard Mushila, 29, an Administration Police (AP) officer <\/em><\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&nbsp;He was forced to take a\nsabbatical break from his career 2 years when he joined the National Youth\nService (NYS) in early 2016 and later, the Administration Police training\nSchool in Embakasi. However, during his free time, he penned down over 40\nsongs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&nbsp;\u201cAfter pass out in 2018, I\ncame back home and it\u2019s when I met my mentor, Gospel Artiste Everlyn Wanjiru\nand the husband, Peter Agunda Bweni. They helped me to record five songs\n(audio) at Bwenieve studios free of charge. I was posted to Mandera County but\nafter three months, I came back recorded two music videos,namely Salama and\nNitengeneze,\u201d said Mushila.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/countysplash.co.ke\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/DSC_2434-1024x678.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-783\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&nbsp;During the last December\nholidays, the police officer says that he was at his peak in his music career\nas he was able to perform with the likes of Daddy Owen, Guardian Angel,\nEverlyne Wanjiru, Andrew Kituyi and Ali Mukhwana on the same stage in Kakamega,\nBungoma and Eldoret.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&nbsp;He says he is looking forward\nto do a collabo with Benachi, Guardian Angel and Everlyn Wanjiru.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p> \u201cMany people have the perception that police officers are bad people but  this is untrue. We are good people the only problem some of us have  funny characters but I will preach to them to change their bad  behaviour,\u201d he added. <\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&nbsp;\u201cBeing a Catholic is sometimes\ndifficult to get performances in the church due to their strict doctrine. When\nam in Mandera, I always take a break to concentrate on my work in maintaining\nlaw and order as there is no studio or radio stations that can play my music.\nThat\u2019s another world on its own,\u201d said Mushila.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&nbsp;\u201cMany people have the\nperception that police officers are bad people but this is untrue. We are good\npeople the only problem some of us have funny characters but I will preach to\nthem to change their bad behaviour,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/countysplash.co.ke\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/DSC_2399-678x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-781\"\/><figcaption>Digit One<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&nbsp;His wife Prudence says Mushila\nis a hardworking and God-fearing husband saying when he is away at work, she\nprays to God to protect given that Mandera is prone to attacks from Al-Shabaab\nand organised gangs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&nbsp;Inspector James Chweya in\ncharge of Gari Hills Police Post said Mushila always prays for them daily\nbefore embarking on their daily duties.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&nbsp;\u201cMushila was just supposed to\nbe on the pulpit preaching and singing to God to save the humankind. He gives\nthe reason to continue soldering on despite this area (Mandera) being volatile.\nOn Sundays, we always assembly at the police canteen to listen to his\npreachings and sings while holding a phone or a torch as a microphone,\u201d said\nInspector Chweya.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&nbsp;He added: \u201cMy four year kid\nwas very sick and my wife told me his condition had deteriorated. He had acute\nmalaria. Mushila to mu office around 8.30pm and prayed for me.He told me God\nwill answer my prayers after 30 minutes.
