Khetia\u2019s Supermarket is one of Kenya\u2019s most successful homegrown businesses. What began in 1982 as a small family shop in the town of Kitale has grown into a national chain of supermarkets serving thousands of Kenyans every day. The Kitale branch remains the oldest, and is a strong symbol of the company\u2019s humble beginnings and steady growth over more than four decades.<\/p>\n

The supermarket now operates in many towns and cities across Kenya, including Eldoret, Bungoma, Kakamega, Kisumu, Busia, Webuye, Nakuru, and the capital city Nairobi, where it opened its first outlet in Roysambu in 2021. With this wide network of stores, Khetia\u2019s has made shopping more accessible and affordable for many Kenyans, especially in western and Rift Valley regions.<\/p>\n

Each branch offers a wide variety of products including fresh vegetables, meat, dry foods, cleaning supplies, clothes, electronics, and more. Some stores also include in-house bakeries, butcheries, and a fast-food section known as Giga Bite. Khetia\u2019s has also launched a mobile shopping app to allow customers to shop from the comfort of their homes.<\/p>\n

The supermarket is led by Country Director Ashok Khetia, who has overseen its expansion and guided its operations with a focus on quality, honesty, and community support. Thanks to his leadership and vision, Khetia\u2019s has built a solid reputation for offering clean, well-stocked stores with excellent customer service.<\/p>\n

Khetia\u2019s is also a major source of employment. Across its branches, the company has hired hundreds of staff in roles such as cashiers, cleaners, security officers, stock handlers, and managers. Most of these employees come from the local communities where the stores operate. This has helped to create stable income for many families and contributed to the local economy.<\/p>\n

Beyond business, Khetia\u2019s is deeply involved in corporate social responsibility. In January 2025, the company brought joy to over 1,000 needy residents by distributing food hampers and holiday gifts during the Christmas season. In November 2024, it also donated a smart television to Bungoma South Police Station, showing its support for local institutions and public services.<\/p>\n

In 2024, a first-year student from Chuka University won a new car worth nearly KSh\u202f900,000. Previous promotions have included motorcycles, home appliances, and large shopping vouchers.<\/p>\n

These customer rewards have made Khetia\u2019s not just a place to shop, but a brand that connects with people\u2019s lives. Many shoppers have stayed loyal for years, trusting the supermarket for its prices, quality, and continued community involvement.<\/p>\n
