Bungoma County is in mourning following the death of one of its longest-serving ward representatives, Hon. Barasa Mukhongo, the Member of County Assembly (MCA) for Chwele\u2013Kabuchai Ward.<\/p>\n

Mukhongo passed away early Monday morning while receiving treatment at Hopekin Hospital in Bungoma town. He had been ailing for some time, and despite efforts to manage his condition, he succumbed while under medical care.<\/p>\n

Born on 2nd August 1956, the late Mukhongo was a seasoned politician known for his unwavering commitment to the people of Kabuchai.<\/p>\n

His political journey spanned decades, starting from the days of civic leadership before the advent of devolution. He continued to serve diligently as a Member of the County Assembly under the Ford Kenya party, which he remained loyal to until his demise.<\/p>\n
