Families living with drug addicts and substance abusers have been encouraged to avoid stigmatizing them and instead work together to provide education and support to help them overcome addiction.<\/p>\n

The call was made by Trans-Nzoia County Commissioner Gideon Oyagi during the official launch of a drug abuse awareness campaign in Kitale town.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

He emphasized the importance of community involvement in preventing drug abuse, urging residents not to isolate addicts but to assist them in quitting substance use.<\/p>\n

\u201cDrug addiction is a challenge that requires collective effort. Families and communities must stand together to guide and support those affected instead of shunning them,\u201d said Oyagi.<\/p>\n

The Commissioner further called on all stakeholders, including local leaders, educators, and health professionals, to collaborate with the government in eradicating drug abuse.<\/p>\n

He also highlighted the need for counseling programs in schools to deter students from engaging in drug use.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe government is committed to cracking down on drug peddling and shutting down illicit drug dens. However, rehabilitation and education are equally crucial in this fight,\u201d Oyagi added.<\/p>\n

Trans Nzoia county NACADA cordinator Triza Mwangi raised concerns over the increasing rate of substance abuse in the region. She urged the county government to establish rehabilitation centers to provide treatment and support for addicts.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\u201cStatistics indicate a worrying rise in drug abuse cases. We need well-equipped rehabilitation facilities and accessible treatment programs to help those struggling with addiction,\u201d Mwangi stated.<\/p>\n

The event brought together local leaders, health workers, and anti-drug activists, all advocating for stronger measures to combat substance abuse while promoting rehabilitation and reintegration for recovering addicts.<\/p>\n

As the campaign gains momentum, stakeholders remain hopeful that a combination of law enforcement, community support, and rehabilitation efforts will curb the drug menace in the region.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
