Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Trans Nzoia branch chairperson Isaac Munene<\/span> has donated 450 balls to 50 primary schools across the county.<\/p>\n

Speaking to the press at Matisi primary school, Munene said his objective is to tap and nurture talents from grassroot levels.<\/p>\n

“When we came in, we did our own assessment and realized that most of our primary schools do not have balls and that is why we decided to bring these balls because this is the breeding ground of great footballers,” Munene stated.<\/p>\n

Munene, who floored long-serving chairperson, Martin Mayakula in November 2024 elections said he is committed to stabilising football in Trans Nzoia County by looking for solutions to perennial challenges affecting football.<\/p>\n

“As new FKF officials, we are looking and focusing on better ways of identifying and nurturing talents. We are also addressing existing challenges affecting this sector,” added Munene.<\/p>\n

Otieno Livingstone, the headteacher of Matisi primary school said the balls will motivate learners and help them face their opponents with courage.<\/p>\n

“We only had one ball but we now have 5 extra balls. As a school, we are very greatful and we know we shall be able to play even upto the nationals and not county level that we were used to,” Mr. Otieno said.<\/p>\n

Janerose Mutama, the County Executive Committee Member in charge of education stated that the\u00a0 FKF’s donations will go a long way in supporting upcoming professional footballers.<\/p>\n

“This noble initiative is a step in the right direction as far as talent development is concerned. Again, this is part of implementation of CBC,” Mutama said.<\/p>\n

The former high school teacher and Kenya Union of Post Primary Teachers (KUPPET) assistant treasurer appealed to partners to support talent development.<\/p>\n

“We want to partner with all relevant stakeholders to come up with good programmes to support talent development in our county,” she said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
