Over 500 students of Bungoma Baptist Girls High School are in danger of lacking water after a total disconnection by water company over alleged illegal connection of water to the school.<\/p>\n

Addressing the media at the school premises Collins Siganga,the senior technical officer incharge of Bungoma region said that they have disconnected all water services in the institution both clean water and sewage services.<\/p>\n

“The school had a pending dept of water bills,we did the disconnection but unfortunately they connected the water illegally without paying the bills,so we are here to disconnect it again”he said<\/p>\n

This is the consequence of over seven months of illegal water licking from the company’s water source.<\/p>\n

Sigaga further explained that the water company has been losing a lot of money since the volume of water provided wasn’t proportionate to the amount of money received this made the company to start a crackdown.<\/p>\n

The crackdown began for the past one week, which forced them to find water that wasn’t going through the meter. A newly launched device called “smart machine” made this task easier.<\/p>\n

“The crackdown was initiated last week and is currently ongoing, thus every drop of water that isn’t passing through the meter is going to be accounted for” he added.<\/p>\n

He cautioned those who have the behaviour of licking resources especially government institutions that they should follow the right ways of acquisition of services noting that those who illegally acquire them will be punishable by law.<\/p>\n

“Private plumbers are the ones who mostly involve in such and when found they will be charged in the courts because its an offence”he said<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
