<\/p>\nThe Equip Africa Institute held its third graduation ceremony, featuring 219 graduates from various academic programs, including new ones that highlight the institution’s dedication to equipping students with market-driven, competency-based skills.<\/p>\n
The Institute’s Executive Director, Professor Evans Kerosi, said that among the pioneering programs were Community Health Nursing, Perioperative Theatre Technology, and training in collaboration with the Kenya Maritime Authority.<\/p>\n
“The institute is also in the process of launching a Certificate and Diploma in Public Health to address the growing need for competency-based education, which represents our focus on addressing critical gaps in the job market,\u201d said Professor Kerosi.<\/p>\n
The Vice-Chancellor of Mount Kenya University (MKU) Professor Deogratius Jaganyi affirmed the commitment to expanding academic programs in the university and its other institutions, including Equip Africa Institute, to meet industry demands.<\/p>\n

“We have started refresher training for Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) programs aimed at graduates whose programs feature no such training, while ensuring hands-on training,” said the Vice-Chancellor.<\/p>\n
He further noted that MKU\u2019s recognition by the Medical Council of the United Kingdom underscores its commitment to global standards in education and a focus on strong linkages to career opportunities for its graduates<\/p>\n
The chief guest at the event Paul Wanyeki who is the Director in charge of Standards Development, Compliance, and Implementation at the Technical and Vocational Education and Training Authority (TVETA), highlighted the crucial role technical education plays in Kenya\u2019s development<\/p>\n
\u201cWe currently have 2,602 TVET institutions across all categories that are committed to of6 of prior learning certification is also vital for career progression and lifelong learning,\u201d said Mr. Wanyeki.<\/p>\n
The Trans Nzoia County Executive Committee Member in charge of Water, Environment, and Natural Resources, Boniface Wanyonyi, commended Equip Africa Institute for its focus on the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC).<\/p>\n
