Kanduyi Member of Parliament (MP) John Makali has revealed that his Constituency\u2019s NG-CDF kitty has disbursed Sh43.3 million to facilitate the construction of more Junior Secondary School (JSS) classrooms and other essential facilities in schools a head of the next year\u2019s grade 9 admissions.<\/p>\n

Speaking at Musikoma Primary school during the cheques handover ceremony on Monday, Makali revealed that most schools in Kanduyi have dilapidated structures arguing that the move aims at preparing schools to receive grade 9 learners in January 2025.<\/p>\n

He affirms that all JSS classrooms will be tiled with a modern outlook.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe decision to construct Junior Secondary classrooms in my constituency was informed by the lack of decent structures that could host grade 9 learners next year,\u201d Makali stated.<\/p>\n

The Ford Kenya MP explained that after the 24 classrooms are completed it would bring the total number of new JSS classrooms in Kanduyi to 38.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe construction of the JSS Classrooms in my constituency has been an ongoing exercise and after these 24 are completed it would bring the total number of 38 JSS classrooms,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

However, Makali called on the school heads and contractors to ensure that a good job is done and hand over the classrooms on time before New Year.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have the shortest time to do this job therefore those who have been awarded these tenders should ensure that they finish before January,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Further, the MP urged the National Treasury to ensure that they release 2024\/25 NG-CDF on time to allow Constituencies implement projects.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn this 2024\/25 financial year, the National Treasury has not released the NG-CDF capitation, this Sh 43.3 Million has been disbursed today was for the last financial year, I call upon the National treasury to release the funding so that MPs can start work implementation of projects,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

On the triple threat, Makali rallied parents to be careful with school going children not to be found culprits of teenage pregnancy.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is a festive season and we have many social activities going on and these activities are eventually sources of teenage pregnancies, please parents let us be careful with our young girls not to fall into this trap we need our girls back to school,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Makali decried increased theft and insecurity incidents in the Constituency, calling on the relevant authorities to be vigilant and apprehend suspects.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn my meeting with school heads they have informed me that there are high incidences of theft going on even in schools therefore I call upon relevant authorities to take charge and deal with thugs breaking into people\u2019s properties,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Makali commented on Kanduyi teachers for their support towards Education.<\/p>\n

On the ongoing controversial disagreement between Nzoia sugar board members, farmers and workers the MP said that the board has the mandate of ensuring that farmers who supply sugarcane are paid in time.<\/p>\n

Last week, farmers and Nzoia Sugar Company workers stormed the factory premises and ejected board Chairperson Alfred Khang\u2019ati on allegations of corruption and delayed payment of farmers who supply the company with cane.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe board of management was put there by the President to ensure smooth operations of the factory and if they have failed then the government should rethink replacing that board and bring in competitive people,\u201d Makali said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
