{"id":437,"date":"2020-03-18T13:50:36","date_gmt":"2020-03-18T13:50:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/countysplash.co.ke\/?p=437"},"modified":"2020-03-18T13:50:36","modified_gmt":"2020-03-18T13:50:36","slug":"taxi-driver-cons-two-job-seeking-students-after-posing-as-a-bank-manager","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/horizonnews.co.ke\/?p=437","title":{"rendered":"Taxi driver who coned two job-seeking students after posing as a bank manager beaten like a burukenge"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Vihiga <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">By Wilson Abiri <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There was drama at Majengo Bus Park; Vihiga County after two women attacked\na man in his late 20\u2019s of conning them and subsequently impregnating them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The man was having lunch in one of the restaurant but when they learnt of\nhis presence in town, they stormed the restaurant and flushed him out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The two women who are holders of bachelor\u2019s degree in ICT said they met John\nWesonga at Kisumu Hotel at lunchtime in October last year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">They had also hired three men who helped them flushing him out of the hotel\nand then descended on him with blows.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"622\" height=\"881\" src=\"https:\/\/horizonnews.co.ke\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/IMG-20200303-WA0045.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-398\" srcset=\"https:\/\/horizonnews.co.ke\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/IMG-20200303-WA0045.jpg 622w, https:\/\/horizonnews.co.ke\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/IMG-20200303-WA0045-212x300.jpg 212w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 622px) 100vw, 622px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Business came to a standstill close to 30-minutes as the slay queens engaged\nMr Wesonga who had duped them that he is a bank manager in Kakamega town and\nthat he can help them secure a good job there.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Travelers and touts at the bus stage enjoyed the free movie, as it emerged\nthat Wesonga was not a bank manager but a taxi driver who politicians normally hire\nover the weekends to ferry them around during their randy clandestine\nactivities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Vivian, 23, told County Splash News that they met Mr Wesonga at Kisumu hotel\nwhen they went to take lunch in October last year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThree men entered the hotel wearing blue chip suits and sat directly\nopposite to our table. After a few minutes, he came to our table and offered to\nclear our bills and then bought some drinks for us,\u201d Vivian said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">She said after taking lunch, they exchanged contacts with him but assured\nthem that he will see them after three days since they were rushing to Kisumu\nInternational Airport to catch a flight to Nairobi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">She said Wesonga told them that they were going for a business meeting in\nthe capital. He gave them sh3000 as transport back home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"928\" height=\"1024\" src=\"https:\/\/horizonnews.co.ke\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/IMG-20200305-WA0010-928x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-403\" srcset=\"https:\/\/horizonnews.co.ke\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/IMG-20200305-WA0010-928x1024.jpg 928w, https:\/\/horizonnews.co.ke\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/IMG-20200305-WA0010-272x300.jpg 272w, https:\/\/horizonnews.co.ke\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/IMG-20200305-WA0010-768x847.jpg 768w, https:\/\/horizonnews.co.ke\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/IMG-20200305-WA0010-696x768.jpg 696w, https:\/\/horizonnews.co.ke\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/IMG-20200305-WA0010-1068x1178.jpg 1068w, https:\/\/horizonnews.co.ke\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/IMG-20200305-WA0010.jpg 1146w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 928px) 100vw, 928px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&nbsp;True to his words, the man resurfaced after four days but this time\nround, they agreed to meet at an expensive hotel within the Central Business\nDistrict (CBD) at 7pm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">She said Wesonga ordered dinner and drinks saying they stayed at the hotel\ntogether with her friend, Moraa, up to midnight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWesonga told us he is a senior bank manager with a local bank in Eldoret\nand we believed him since he came with a black Toyota V8 car. This day, he\npromised to secure jobs for us with the bank now that we were ICT gurus,\u201d she\nsaid.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Vivian said he gave them sh5000 each when they parted ways that day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cHe dropped Moraa to our place but we had quality time with him that night.\nHe dropped me back the following day and promised to give me a job and marry\nme. That is the day he impregnated me,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He called three days later and then informed us he had organized everything\nfor us. You give sh30, 000 and you will be earning\nsh45, 000 every month, permanent and pensionable,\u201d Moraa said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to her, they raised the money five days later and met with Wesonga\nin Eldoret town.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cHe bought us lunch and then we partied all night at Signature club within\nEldoret CBD. My friend, Vivian was too drunk and we took her to a room adjacent\nto the club to sleep,\u201d Moraa said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe booked another room where we slept. We had unprotected sex as he had\ntold me that he will also marry me and wanted a child. That is the day I became\npregnant,\u201d she recalls.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We parted ways in the morning and he promised us to call us after two days to\ngo and pick our job letters,\u201d she narrated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Moraa lamented that since that day; he switched his phone after five days\nand even changed his line.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">She said they knew Wesonga had conned them after two weeks when they learnt\nthat he was just a mere taxi driver who used to ferry politicians to funeral\nplaces and public gatherings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe took a photo with him together when we were clubbing in Eldoret town. We\nshowed the photo to some of our friends in Kisumu and identified him as a taxi\ndriver cum conman,\u201d Moraa said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">However, police who were operating a roadblock at Boyani area along\nKakamega-Kisumu road came to his rescue on time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When he was ransacked, he was found with 24 Safaricom lines, 18 Telkom lines\nand 11 airtel lines.
