There will be demonstrations tomorrow in Kakamega town over Obilo\u2019s death<\/strong><\/em><\/li>
Lawyer was attacked on February 29 around Bishop Stam pastoral centre <\/strong><\/em><\/li>
He was 31 years of age and former LSK Kakamega chapter treasurer <\/strong><\/em><\/li>
He succumbed to the head injuries while receiving treatment at MTRH<\/strong><\/em><\/li>
He was hit by a stone on the head that broke his skull into pieces <\/strong><\/em><\/li>
Unconfirmed reports indicate He might have died as a result of the insurance case he was handling <\/strong><\/em><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n
Lawyers from Western Kenya will tomorrow (Tuesday) stage a\npeaceful demonstration in Kakamega town demanding answers over the death of their\ncolleague, Hillary Olunga Obilo.<\/p>\n\n\n\nThe late Hillary Olunga Obilo<\/em><\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n
Obilo was attacked by an armed gang on February 29, around\nat Bishop Stam Pastoral Centre. He was hit by a stone on his head that broke\nhis skull into pieces. This is according to Sam Onyango, the West Kenya LSK\nbranch chairman.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mr Obilo,31, was on heading home on the fateful day and\nafter the attack, his car and the cell phone was stolen from him by the\ncriminals. He will be buried on March 14.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe will be having a peaceful protest to demand answers from\nthe Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) \u2013 Kakamega to explain to us why\nthe suspects behind the killing of our colleague have not been arraigned in\ncourt,\u201d said Onyango in a presser at the Kakamega law courts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mr Onyango blamed the DCI officers of laxity at work and\ntreating the matter casually, saying Mr Obilo cannot be laid to rest when his\nassailants were still scot free.<\/p>\n\n\n\nEs<\/em><\/strong>ther Ang’awa (second left), the Upcountry LSK Council Rep. addressing the press at Kakamega law courts<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe police have suspects under their custody but they are\nclaiming to have not concluded with investigations over this matter. One of the\nsuspects even led them to where the car was and instead of arresting his fellow\ngang members, they left them scot free,\u201d said Onyango.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Onyango said their lives are in danger and therefore they\nwill not be representing anyone who is facing criminal charges, since they are\nthe ones killing them in cohort with the police.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n
He announced that they won\u2019t go to work from Monday \u2013\nWednesday this week as they will be mourning their colleague while putting on\nthe purple ribbon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Upcountry LSK Council Representative, Esther Ang\u2019awa, tomorrow\u2019s\ndemonstration will be a clear indication that they not satisfied with the way\nthe police are handling the matter and accused them of trying to protect the\nsuspects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n
\u201cLSK President Nelson Havi was forced to protest to the head\nof homicide in Nairobi who order the Kakamega DCI officers to probe them\nmatter. They are sleeping on their job while we are demanding justice for our\nslain colleague,\u201d said Ms Ang\u2019awa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Kakamega LSK President Maureen Odeck said Mr Obilo was a\npromising advocate and that his death had robbed them (lawyers) treasure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe are asking the police to speed up their investigations\nso that the assailants behind the death of Mr Obilo are brought to book. We\nwant justice for his young family and we will stop at nothing until such a time\nthe police will give us answers over the matter,\u201d said Ms Odeck.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
