Kakamega Governor Fernandes Barasa helped\nhis trusted lieutenant James Wanzala Namatsi to be elected as the second\nSpeaker of Kakamega County Assembly. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe burnt the midnight oil in lobbying the MCAs from Azimio la Umoja coalition who are the majority to vote for James Namatsi. He was the most favourite\u00a0 candidate and the MCAs did not disappoint us,<\/em><\/code><\/strong>” <\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

According to sources close to the governor,\nGovernor Barasa\u2019s predecessor Wycliffe Oparanya wanted Namatsi, a close confidant\nof the governor who will help him implement his development manifesto with\nease.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

 MCAs across the country are notorious in destabilizing\nthe county leadership by refusing to pass bills until they are \u2018nicely talked\u2019\nby the governor. To the extreme, they always come with impeachment motions\nagainst the governor in order to cut him to size.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Namatsi, an advocate of the High Court,\nwas declared the winner ager garnering 60 votes, while Kennedy Kilwake, the\nformer Majority Leader came a distant second with 26 votes while <\/p>\n\n\n\n

 Morris Indakwa Buluma, who was defending the\nseat received for the third time got a paltry  3 votes. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
