As the county continues to register a high prevalence\nof mental health issues, a group of community leaders and professionals have\nset up a wellness facility that will help address these issues. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

One of the founders, Duncan Wandabwa, mentioned that\nthe actualization of the program is a relief for the community, and members\nwill be in a better position to manage mental challenges. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wandabwa attributed the high cases of crime to\nunattended mental health issues and encouraged people to access the facility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cMost of the crimes today are correlated to depression\nand stress, and we are hoping that this facility will be an avenue to create awareness,\u201d\nhe said<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He revealed that the facility provides a home where\nmembers will get an environment to relax and share with other patients in a\nconducive environment. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

“We will be able to accommodate people who will\nopen up to other members about their issues. We will also have a psychiatrist\nso that we can refer members for professional help,\u201d revealed the co-founder.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We are providing a home where people will come to both as a mental clinic and as a community center where they support each other <\/code><\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

When asked why they refer to the facility as a home,\nWandabwa said that the facility provides a safe space to members, giving them\nopportunities to share issues without stigma and discrimination. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Currently, the program has one sponsor, Kenneth Dudek,\nwho believes the community-based organization will help people with serious\nmental health issues. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

On funding, the recognized mental health leader\nrevealed that he believes in sustainability and noted that local health links\nand other stakeholders would play key roles in supporting the program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201dWe believe in sustainability, and we will bring\nenough resources, and we will engage other partners such as the county and\nnational government to ensure the program is sustainable,\u201d he mentioned. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dudek said that the organization would work closely with\nmental health practitioners to ensure that the community accesses medication\ntoo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We have educational and training programs that will target families, and by providing extra support such as employment, we will relieve families and enhance their ability to address mental health issues <\/code><\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

He acknowledged that families provide useful support to\ntheir loved ones battling mental issues, affirming that the organization will\nfully incorporate the family unit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The program will be officially launched in January\n2023. However, it is currently open to the community by referring them to the\nappropriate mental professionals. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The founders also look forward to rolling over the\nprogram to other counties in the future to maximize the outcome of the program.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
